Isla Contoy is a small island in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, approximately 30 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres. The island is only 8.5 km in length and has an area of 3.17 square kilometres. Since 1961, Isla Contoy is protected by the Mexican government and was declared a national park in February 1998. The island is jointly run by the Isla Mujeres-based non-governmental organization, Amigos de Isla Contoy A.C. and the Secretary of Environment, Natural Resources and Fishing. The Cancun Underwater Museum dive is to an artificial reef, a submerged art collection.
MUSA (Cancun Underwater museum of art is the only museum that you can visit wearing only a bathing suit.
The best way to explore it is scuba diving because it's to about 28 feet deep. The project started in 2009 so nowadays the pieces are covered with beautiful coral formations and surrounded by fish, making the Underwater Museum an artificial reef to host marine life, a stress relief for nearby coral reefs and a one-of-a-kind diving spot! Chichén Itzá is a complex of Mayan ruins on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. A massive step pyramid, known as El Castillo or Temple of Kukulcan, dominates the ancient city, which thrived from around 600 A.D. to the 1200s. Graphic stone carvings survive at structures like the ball court, Temple of the Warriors and the Wall of the Skulls. Nightly sound-and-light shows illuminate the buildings' sophisticated geometry.
